WFTL Season VI (2019-20) | Home Team Claims

Season VI Welcome

Season V introduced a popular new feature: the Spit Box. We hope to continue the tradition of adopting exciting new features in Season VI with…Home Team Trading! Every year, the Analysts have contributed to the competition and enjoyment of the World Football Trifecta League by inventing new strategies to Win, Place, or Show (and pocket some of the Purse!). This season, The Clearinghouse and The Bookie have approved the concept of Home Team Trades before week 17 of the regular season. A Home Team Trade is when two or more Analysts swap Home Teams currently Claimed during a Quaternary Crown Race*.

The Rules are A) the terms of the trade must be made known in full to the League and B) trade terms that violate the spirit of the competition will be rejected and ignored on all Racing Forms. Rule A means that all other Analysts will know what Analysts gave up in the trade (aside from Home Teams). Rule B means that Analysts may NOT trade any element that directly effects the racing results such as Correct Picks, Trifectas, Trifecta Points, etc., etc., etc. Rule A will be enforced by The Bookie in consultation with The Clearinghouse. Rule B will be applied at the discretion of The Clearinghouse in consultation with The Bookie.

*NOTE: Un-Claimed teams may not be part of the trades. Changing Home Teams Between Races is governed by the General Rules.

Season VI Racing Form

In Season VI, as described in the Season Preparations, all Analysts are required to release Claims to Home Teams for the prior season. With the addition of two new Analysts, and no retirements, no less than 13 Analysts will compete in Season VI of the World Football Trifecta League! Each Analyst has been assigned a Claims number based on their Season V performance for Analyst of the Year, while the two new Analysts were assigned Claims numbers based on the order of the submission of their entry forms. The numbers are:

  1. The Strategist
  2. Craft Brew
  3. Big Tuna
  4. Roxy Trot
  5. Jimmy V*

  7. Wise Orangutan
  8. Little Tuna
  9. Sponge Mom
  10. The Bookie

Releasing and claiming a new Home Team before the start of a new Crown Race is optional. Mid-season, the order of Claims is determined by current Home Team playoff strength. Analysts who currently own playoff-seeded Home Teams are in bold.

The order then is:

1. Atwork (Packers, 11th NFC)

2. Roxy Trot (Eagles, 8th NFC)

3. The Strategist (Panthers, 7th NFC)

4. Wise O. (Seahawks, 5th NFC)

5. Little Tuna (Chargers, 5th AFC )

6. The Bookie (Steelers, 4th AFC)

7. Sponge Mom (Bears, 3rd NFC)

8. Jimmy V (Patriots, 2nd AFC)*

9. Big Tuna (Saints, 2nd NFC)*

10. B-Reezy (Chiefs, 1st AFC)*

11. Craft Brew (Rams, 1st NFC)*

* The nfl.com playoff picture is operational: http://www.nfl.com/playoffs/playoff-picture. I applied tiebreaker rules when two Analysts have the same playoff seeding in the two different conferences. Patriots have a worse record than the Saints and Chiefs have a worse record than the Rams (and lost to them).

If you choose to release your Home Team, the Analysts listed above you will Claim before you from all available Home Teams (including those released).

The Analysts have submitted their papers and claimed their Home Teams to start the race. The Claim Box for Fibonacci Stakes V is:

Fibonacci Stakes V | Claim Box

Slate of Games

Fibonacci Stakes V | Slate of Games
Slate of Games for Fibonacci Stakes V

Superscript 1 next to Home Team means the game is played internationally (Leg 3).

The slate of games for Fibonacci Stakes V includes an unprecedented 10 head-to-head competitions this month (the first tiebreaker in the race).

In Leg 1, the front stretch, we kick off the Fibonacci Stakes with three head-to-heads: Little Tuna seeks to super charge Wise Orangutan, Craft Brew looks to quaff down Big Tuna, and Atwork aims to pack up Jimmy V.

In Leg 2, the clubhouse turn, The Strategist makes a scratching post of The Bookie, and Wise O. flings poo at Craft Brew in their second head-to-head competition.

In Leg 3, the backstretch, Atwork packs up for the road to Wise O., Roxy Trot eagle eyes Big Tuna, and B-Reezy pours a pint of Craft Brew.

in Leg 4, the far turn, Wise O. eyes his chances to hawk a Trifecta from the Strategist.

In Leg 5, the home stretch, Little Tuna re-enacts the 1994 AFC Championship game with The Bookie.

Home teams owned by an Analyst are in bold. The team at the left is the visiting team; the team at the right is the host (playing at home). There is yet another record number of featured games: five Thursday games (including two on Thanksgiving), five Sunday nights, and two Monday nights.

Four teams earn a bye week during the month. Bye weeks diminish the potential for bonus points since the Home Team may not be picked two weeks in a row.

Picks

Remember: Every Analyst has a bias for his or her Home Team and may NOT pick their Claimed team to lose. Analysts do not have to pick his or her Home Team to win, but Correct Home Team Picks remains the second tiebreaker. See the complete Fibonacci Stakes rules for more detail.

Email picks in private to The Bookie before each leg (week) of the Race. Thursday games are due by 2pm local times on Thursdays (flexible per The Bookie’s time in special circumstances). All three Picks are due on Saturdays at 2pm local times. No Picks for games after kickoffs are accepted.

The slate of games for Player Haters Preakness V includes five head-to-head competitions this month (the first tiebreaker in the race). Head-to-head games do not count toward Player Haters Picks (i.e., Picks of un-owned teams).

In Leg 1, through the clubhouse turn, we kick off the Crown with a test of horse sense by Analysts with new mounts: Craft Brew versus Wise Orangutan. In Leg 3, The Strategist will try to contain the upstart Roxy Trot, while Kentucky burns as Jimmy V takes his Derby champion to Sponge Mom’s (un-)Bearable field! In Leg 4, Roxy Trot flies like an Eagle overseas to race against B-Reezy riding the London Jaguars and Atwork seeks to down a Craft Brew in Los Angeles.

Home teams owned by an Analyst are in bold. The team at the left is the visiting team; the team at the right is the host (playing at home). There are a record number of featured games: two Thursday nights, four Sunday nights, and four Monday nights.

Seven different teams earn a bye week during the month, robbing Analysts of precious opportunities for Player Hater Picks.

WFTL Season V (2018-19) | Home Team Claims

Share This:

Season V Welcome

WFTL Analysts have come to accept that there are tough loses at the WFTL Racetrack. Just as in life sometimes you just want to shout out “that’s not fair.” A past example was one Analyst that continually week after week complained about the Patriots winning. Yes there are fouls in all sports and in horse racing a grievance can be brought up after the race. So this year we are establishing a complaint box. All Objections (“claims of foul”) will be anonymous, carry no foul language (Orangutan) and will be posted with the weekly picks. Submitting objections to the “Spit Box” may start as soon as the draft begins. You may claim your home team and tell your grievances as soon as your face is no longer red and you can compose your thoughts. Post objections for the “Spit Box” throughout the season.

Season V Racing Form

To welcome our new comers we will have 3 new roast later this season and also we will do an interview of each final race winner.

The following in alphabetical order is our list of analyst for the WFTL V

Official Record of New Analyst Claims Order

World Football Trifecta Championship 2018-19

WFTL Season V Preparations

The General Rules for the World Football Trifecta League have been updated. The PC-Fecta Derby kicks off the new season. Also review the rules for the PC-Fecta Derby here.

To start the new season, The Bookie needs to know which returning Analysts are keeping their end-of-year horse and which are seeking to trade-up ponies. At the end of the regular season, the returning Analysts had these steeds:

Kal Krome – Seahawks
Atwork – Eagles
The Bookie – Rams
Little Tuna – Patriots
Wise Orangutan – Ravens
B-Reezy – Chiefs
Big Tuna – Saints
Craft Brew – Steelers
The Strategist – Panthers

The starters rarely play in the fourth game of preseason, so here are the key dates to start the new season:

After Preseason Week 1 (August 11) – Let The Bookie know yes / no to establishing a purse for Super Trifecta Bowl V.
After Preseason Week 2 (August 20) – Announce if you are releasing your current team.
After Preseason Week 3 (August 26) – Select a new team.
After Preseason Week 4 (September 30) – Send the Bookie your share of the Purse for the year.

For Analysts who relinquish teams, new teams will be selected in reverse order of last year’s season standings. New Analyst(s) will pick before returning Analysts as determined by coin flip:

1) New Analysts (order determined by coin flip if necessary)
2) Kal Krome (4 Trifectas, 30 correct picks)
3) Atwork (5 Trifectas, 32 Correct Picks)
4) The Bookie (6 Trifectas, 34 Correct Picks)
5) Little Tuna (6 Trifectas, 36 correct picks
6) Wise Orangutan (7 Trifectas, 32 correct picks)
7) B-Reezy (7 Trifectas, 37 Correct Picks)
8t) Craft Brew (7 Trifectas, 38 Correct Picks) – coin flip if necessary
8t) Big Tuna (7 Trifectas, 38 Correct Picks) – coin flip if necessary
10) The Strategist (9 Trifectas, 39 Correct Picks)

Improved Rules

A) The Purse for all races will be split between the first and second place Analysts at approximately 2:1 ratio.

B) Only eight of twelve playoff teams competing for the World Football Championship may be owned at the start of the Super Trifecta Bowl. The top eight Analysts from the regulars season will have a right to ownership in this order: 1) Analyst of the Year, 2) Seeder’s Cup Winner, 3) Fibonacci Stakes Winner, 4) Player Haters Winner, 5) PC-Fecta Derby Winner, 6) Place in the Analyst of the Year, 7) Show in the Analyst of the Year, and 8) from 4th-8th position in the Analyst of the Year until eight teams are owned by Analysts. Analysts who finish out of the top eight positions will not own a team during the Super Trifecta Bowl.
