Headed into the home stretch, the heavy track had hobbled half of the field through three Legs. Only two Analysts scored points in every Leg of the Fibonacci Stakes, and the final came down to an outcome in a single MNF game! And the Winner is…

Big Tuna (43 points)! Big Tuna becomes only the second Analyst to complete the Career Grand Slam — he has now won all 6 Races in the WFTL. He had to stave off Woody, who finishes in Place with 37 points.

Atwork (36 points) came on strong at the end to tie Mo Money (36 points), but Mo Money has the edge for Show on Correct Home Team Picks (4 vs. 0).

KateTDid (34 points) surged into fifth place in the final Legs, ahead of Jimmy V (29 points) in sixth position. Roxy Trot (28 points) closes in seventh place with 28 points.

Craft Brew, Little Tuna, and Bookie (25 points each), with Little Tuna taking 8th Place with 2 Correct Home Team Picks, Craft Brew 9th Place with 1 Correct Home Team Pick, and Bookie with 0 Correct Home Team Picks.

Wise Orangutan bests Sponge Mom (19 points each) for 11th position with 2 Correct Home Team Picks, while The Strategist (16 points) and B-Reezy (15 points) trot to the finish line!

PC-Fecta Derby VIII

The Fastest Four Weeks in Sports Analysis (is it already four weeks into Season VIII!) the PC-Fecta Derby had a single leader out of the gates and around the near turn! Could she hold onto her lead for her first Crown Win ever?!!?

And the Winner is…

Sponge Mom (34 points)! She earned three *base* Trifectas and twelve *bonus* points in the first three Legs of the Race. It looked a little sketchy in the home stretch, but Sponge Mom nabbed a *lame* Trifecta to close out her first ever Crown!

Roxy Trot (31 points) poured on the PC-Fecta *bonus* points in the final three Legs. She earned one *base* Trifecta and three *lame* Trifectas in four weeks. Her League-leading sixteen *bonus* points secured her the Place. Wise Orangutan (25 points) Shows with one *base* Trifecta, three *lame* Trifectas, and ten *bonus* points.

Heading the middle of the field, KateTDid (24 points) closes strong in fourth place after her Home Team corrects its errant ways. Woody (21 points) finds her stride with her first *base* Trifecta to claim fifth place. Jimmy V (20 points) finishes in sixth place on the strength of three *base* Trifectas. Playing the long game in Week 4, The Strategist (19 points) slipped into seventh place. Little Tuna and Bookie finish with 17 points each, Little Tuna taking eighth place on first tiebreaker (Titans defeated Seahawks).

In the back half of the field, B-Reezy and Big Tuna net 14 points each, with Big Tuna finishing in tenth position on third tiebreaker (-1.3 point differential per game vs. -6.8 pdpg). Craft Brew (12 points) struggles (unusually!) in twelfth place despite his steel-y disposition to start the season. With her can-do attitude, Mo Money (7 points each) outpaces Atwork (3 points) to take the penultimate position!

Standings | Super Trifecta Bowl VII | Final Results

Super Trifecta Bowl VII

A spectacular race! The highest scoring, most competitive chase for the most illustrious trophy in sports analysis! No less than three Analysts picked 8 of 9 games correctly, while two Analysts accurately rode the eventual Champion (Bucs) in every Leg of Super Trifecta Bowl VII. At the wire, it came down to a photo-finish between two Analysts. The Winner is…

Big Tuna (29 points)! Despite having lost his Home Team in the Wildcard Round, Big Tuna notched 15 of a possible 18 *base* Trifecta points (8 of 9 Picks Correct) to overtake the early leader in the home stretch. He also added 14 Super Trifecta points, including the only upset Pick for the Rams in the Wildcard Round. He wins by first tiebreaker (the closest STB ever!) over…

KateTDid (29 points) in Place! KateTDid jumped out to a big lead early on upset Picks in the Wildcard Round, then rode the Bucs in every other Leg for 20 Super Trifecta points. She came up only 1 Correct Pick (any Correct Pick) short of the Win. Nonetheless, KateTDid takes home Purse, the second ever Analyst with No Claim to do so!

Another Analyst who lost his Home Team in the Wildcard Round, Jimmy V (27 points) rounds out The Winner’s Circle in Show. He also finished with 8 of 9 Correct Picks and only 1 Correct Pick (or an upset Pick) short of the Win!

Just outside The Winner’s Circle, in fourth place, The Bookie (26 points) noses out Little Tuna (26 points) in fifth position based on first tiebreaker. Little Tuna swiped the Championship Round Reverse PC-Fecta points to outrun Roxy Trot (24 points, 6th place) down the home stretch. All three of these Analysts could have won if they had Picked the Rams in the Wildcard Round to keep pace with Big Tuna!

Wise O. (19 points) faded after the near turn after his Home Team brown’ed out in KC to finish in seventh position. Tied at 15 points each, Sponge Mom in eighth place edges Atwork in ninth position on first tiebreaker (the equivalent of 1 Correct Pick). Craft Brew (14 points) in tenth place overtakes The Strategist (13 points) in eleventh after she gives up 2 Reverse PC-Fecta points to Little Tuna in TGWSNBN.

B-Reezy (5 points) bears down…and down…and down some more…into twelfth place, leaving Woody (3 points) in thirteen place to ponder an eternal mystery…just what is a Seahawk?

Standings | PC-Fecta Derby VII | Final Results

PC-Fecta Derby VII

After seven seasons, the WFTL has its first two-time Crown Champion of the PC-Fecta Derby. Was it Big Tuna (the man who put the PC in PC-Fecta!)? Jimmy V (the only colt or filly to Win since Season I)? Little Tuna (winning-est Analyst in WFTL history)? Craft Brew (Defending Champion)? Kal Krome (from out of retirement)? No. No. No. No. And. No.

Atwork led PC-Fecta Derby VII wire-to-wire on his green-and-yellow-hot thoroughbred rode by the “I-am-as-old-as-my-Wonderlic-score (35)” jock(ey)! With 25 Trifecta points and 24 Bonus points, he Wins with 49 points — and over one-quarter length of the track (+17 points) ahead of second place!!!

Wise Orangutan–who has asked The Clearinghouse to point out that he did not change any Derby rules this season!–started slow but closed strong with the offense bonus points. He Browns out the competition to Place with 31 points at the finish.

Big Tuna Shows with 27 points, oh so close to the Purse (and wondering how it is that Wise O. always snatches away his payouts!).

KateTDid, Craft Brew, The Stategist and Jimmy V can only ponder what might have been if not for The Equine Plague.

Jimmy V (26) finishes in fourth place on base Trifecta points. Craft Brew (24) edges out Little Tuna (24) for fifth place based on third tiebreaker (7.3 point differential per game [pdpg] vs. 7.0 pdpg).

The Strategist (23) trots to the line on a Monday in seventh place. In eighth place, The Bookie (22) on the inside rail handily pushes B-Reezy (22) to the outside rail for ninth place on second tiebreaker (4 Correct Home Team Picks to his 1 Correct Home Team Pick).

KateTDid (21) ends in tenth place, ahead of Sponge Mom in eleventh (20). Roxy Trot‘s (16) nag, plagued by injuries, drags her down to twelfth place. Woody (10) cowpokes to the finish in last place.

Super Trifecta Bowl VI

Headed down the homestretch, Sponge Mom seemed unstoppable. Her Home Team 49ers had shut down Craft Brew‘s Home Team Chiefs for three quarters. Half way through the fourth quarter, victory was almost certain…Unless her steed spit the bit!

49ers Win Probability | 7:26 Left in 4th Quarter | Game Which Shall Not Be Named
49ers Win Probability | 7:26 Left in 4th Quarter | Game Which Shall Not Be Named

Then Pat-demonium (or Pat-Mahomes-ium) break lose, and the Chiefs closed the final leg like the great Secretariat! But, would it be enough to lift Craft Brew, or was the fix in?

The Winner of Super Trifecta Bowl VI is…The Bookie!

Based on the Titanic run of an Un-Claimed dark horse and one *lame* Trifecta, The Bookie at 21 points crosses the finish line 2 lengths ahead of Craft Brew at 19 points. Craft Brew had the only – only – *base* Trifecta of the postseason and 8 points from his Home Team, but he took only 3 of the 6 possible Reverse PC-Fecta points in the Division and Championship Round.

Sponge Mom, for the second time this season, lost her advantage in the final leg of a race. She nonetheless makes The Winner’s Circle with a Show at 17 points (on first tiebreaker, Trifecta points).

Also at 17 points, Big Tuna moves past Little Tuna for fourth place. The early leader, Wise Orangutan finishes in sixth place at 15 points.

At 10 points each, Atwork edges out KateTDid on the second tiebreaker (Playoff Victory points) for seventh place. B-Reezy finishes in ninth place at 9 points, followed by Woody in tenth place with 7 points.

The three Analysts whose Home Teams failed to get a win in the playoffs bring up the rear. Jimmy V the martyred Saint ends in eleventh place (6 points), Roxy Trot Patriotically finishes in twelfth place (5 points), and The Strategist is still Raven-mad about her Home Team swoon in last place (4 points).
