The Entrants

The Analysts have submitted their papers and claimed their Home Teams to start the new season. The Claim Box for PC-Fecta Derby VI is:

Slate of Games

The Slate of Games for PC-Fecta Derby VI includes the first Leg (3) to include 13 different games (no head-to-head games) in WFTL history, whereas the other three Legs feature 8 head-to-head competitions this month (the first tiebreaker in the race)!

In Leg 1, the clubhouse turn, we kick off the season with Atwork visiting the new filly, KateTDid, in Chicago. Sunday afternoon Jimmy V tests his new steed against the reigning Analyst of the Year, The Strategist. On Sunday Night Football (SNF), hapless Wise Orangutan challenges Roxy Trot and her Super Bowl champion thoroughbred. In Leg 2, the back stretch, Big Tuna seeks revenge against Jimmy V’s new stallion, before first-year Analyst, Woody, tries to clean up versus Sponge Mom! After a sleepy far turn (Leg 3), down the home stretch (Leg 4) Woody aspires to manage Atwork, Roxy Trot bets against The (house ) Bookie, and Little Tuna homes in on Big Tuna on Sunday Night Football.

Home teams owned by an Analyst are in bold. The team at the left is the visiting team; the team at the right is the host (playing at home). There are many featured games: three Thursday nights (TNF), all four Sunday nights (SNF), and three Monday nights (MNF).

None of the Home Teams are on a bye-week during PC-Fecta Derby VI!

Picks

Remember: Every Analyst has a bias for his or her Home Team and may NOT pick their Claimed team to lose. Analysts do not have to pick his or her Home Team to win, but *bonus* trifecta points are won only if Analysts include the Home Team in a *base* or *lame* Trifecta. See the Derby Rules for more.

Email picks in private to The Bookie before each Leg (week) of the Race. Thursday games are due by 2pm on Thursdays (flexible per The Bookie’s time in special circumstances). All Sunday and Monday Picks are due on Saturdays at 2pm. No Picks for games after kickoffs are accepted.

WFTL Season VI (2019-20) | Home Team Claims

Season VI Welcome

Season V introduced a popular new feature: the Spit Box. We hope to continue the tradition of adopting exciting new features in Season VI with…Home Team Trading! Every year, the Analysts have contributed to the competition and enjoyment of the World Football Trifecta League by inventing new strategies to Win, Place, or Show (and pocket some of the Purse!). This season, The Clearinghouse and The Bookie have approved the concept of Home Team Trades before week 17 of the regular season. A Home Team Trade is when two or more Analysts swap Home Teams currently Claimed during a Quaternary Crown Race*.

The Rules are A) the terms of the trade must be made known in full to the League and B) trade terms that violate the spirit of the competition will be rejected and ignored on all Racing Forms. Rule A means that all other Analysts will know what Analysts gave up in the trade (aside from Home Teams). Rule B means that Analysts may NOT trade any element that directly effects the racing results such as Correct Picks, Trifectas, Trifecta Points, etc., etc., etc. Rule A will be enforced by The Bookie in consultation with The Clearinghouse. Rule B will be applied at the discretion of The Clearinghouse in consultation with The Bookie.

*NOTE: Un-Claimed teams may not be part of the trades. Changing Home Teams Between Races is governed by the General Rules.

Season VI Racing Form

In Season VI, as described in the Season Preparations, all Analysts are required to release Claims to Home Teams for the prior season. With the addition of two new Analysts, and no retirements, no less than 13 Analysts will compete in Season VI of the World Football Trifecta League! Each Analyst has been assigned a Claims number based on their Season V performance for Analyst of the Year, while the two new Analysts were assigned Claims numbers based on the order of the submission of their entry forms. World Football Trifecta Championship 2019-20

WFTL Season VI Preparations

The General Rules for the World Football Trifecta League have been updated to include a random drawing for Claims Order to start every third season. To start the sixth season, all returning Analysts must relinquish their Home Teams.

The Order of Claims will be determined by a random number generation. All eleven Analysts from Season V are returning. Two new sports fillies have joined for Season VI for a total of 13 Analysts. Each Analyst has been assigned a Claims lottery number per the Final Results for the Analyst of the Year in Season V (returning Analysts) or in order of entry forms received (new Analysts):

  1. The Strategist
  2. Craft Brew
  3. Big Tuna
  4. Roxy Trot
  5. Jimmy V*
  6. B-Reezy*
  7. Wise Orangutan
  8. Little Tuna
  9. Sponge Mom
  10. The Bookie
  11. Atwork
  12. Woody
  13. KateTDid

*Jimmy V and B-Reezy ended the year in a tie for fifth place. JimmyV has been awarded #5 by virtue of the better performance in the Super Trifecta Bowl. B-Reezy has been assigned #6.

Key Dates for Season VI:

After Preseason Week 1 (August 14) – New rules review and adoption.
After Preseason Week 2 (August 21) – Claims order determined.
After Preseason Week 3 (August 28) – Select Home Teams.
After Preseason Week 4 (September 4) – Send The Bookie your share of the Purse for the year.

Improved Season VI Rules

1) Every three years (3rd season, 6th season, etc., forward), all Analysts must release their Home Teams and The Clearinghouse will conduct a lottery to determine the order of Claims for Home Teams for the upcoming season.

2) In a single Leg of a Quaternary Crown Race, three Correct Picks will be a “base Trifecta” worth 6 points, while two Correct Picks (out of three) will be a “lame Trifecta” worth 3 points. “Bonus Trifecta” points for base and lame Trifectas will be awarded per Track Rules of the Crown Races.

3) Analysts are required to have a Snapchat account name on record with The Bookie.
