Super Trifecta Bowl

The World Professional Football Analyst Championship

A free rein contest for “Super Trifecta” points that challenges Analysts to jockey for position based on the seeding of their Home Team.

In the World Football Analyst Championship, Analysts compete for Trifecta points that combine aspects of the regular season races: *base* and *lame* Trifectas, PC-Fecta points, Player Hater points, Fibonacci increments, and Seeder points — the “Super Trifectas” — ergo, the “Super Trifecta Bowl.”

Per the Rules 2.0 adopted in Season VI (2019-20), a *base* Trifecta with three Correct Picks earns 6 Trifecta points and a *lame* Trifecta with two Correct Picks earns 3 Trifecta points. In addition, *bonus* Super Trifecta points are awarded to Analysts for Correct Picks. As there are several different methods to accumulate Trifecta points, Analysts who have no Claims or whose Home Teams fail to make the professional football championship game (aka, The Game Which Shall Not Be Named) may win the Race by Picking wisely in all three rounds of the playoffs.

To Start the Championship

Per Season VII Rules Revision, Only twelve of fourteen playoff teams (expanded playoff field in the professional football league) competing for the World Football Championship may be Claimed to start the Super Trifecta Bowl. The top twelve Analysts from the regular season will have a Claim for ownership in this order: 1) Analyst of the Year, 2) Seeder’s Cup Winner, 3) Fibonacci Stakes Winner, 4) Player Haters Winner, 5) PC-Fecta Derby Winner, 6) Place in the Analyst of the Year, 7) Show in the Analyst of the Year, and 8) from 4th-12th position in the Analyst of the Year until twelve teams in total are Claimed by Analysts. When an Analyst has two or more Claims, the highest Claim is granted.

Analysts who finish out of the top twelve positions will not have a Claim to Home Team during the Super Trifecta Bowl. “Analysts who have NO Claim” are in the Race, and they benefit most from Correct Picks to Win for the two teams that are un-Claimed to start the Super Trifecta Bowl.

The Legs of the Championship

There are three rounds of picks in the Super Trifecta Bowl: Wild Card Round, Divisional Round, and the Championship Round.

Analysts who have NO Claim will be free to pick any team during each round, while those Analysts with a Claim may NOT Pick against their own Home Team in any round.

In the wild card round, Analysts will pick three winners from the six games played among the the #2 to #7 seeds of the playoffs. Note that Analysts who have NO Claim and Analysts with Claims to the #1 Seeds can pick any of the teams playing in the wild card round, while Analysts with teams seeded from #2 to #7 may NOT Pick against their Home Team, but may Pick any winners from other games.

In the divisional round, Analysts will pick three winners from the six games played among the wild card round winners and the top two seeds in each conference that host the games. Note that Analysts who have NO Claim and Analysts whose teams were eliminated in the wild card round can Pick any team in the divisional round to win. On the other hand, Analysts with teams in the divisional round may NOT Pick against their Home Team, but may Pick any winners from the other games.

In the Championship round, only four teams will remain. Analysts will chose the winners of the conference championship games and the winner of the world professional football league Champion over two weeks. Selection of the world professional football champion in the final playoff game of the season will take place after the conference championships and will follow the same Pick rules as the conference championships.

Note that – since there are only three games total in the Championship round – an Analyst whose Home Team is in a championship game MUST Pick his or her Home Team to win that championship game. Such Analysts have flexibility ONLY in Picking who the opponent of his or her Home Team will be. In contrast, Analysts who have NO Claim or those whose Home Teams have been eliminated in the wild card or divisional rounds will be able to Pick any of the four teams playing for the professional football conference championships.

Super Trifecta Point System

Since the Analysts have decided advantages based on Claims and the seeding of the Home Teams (home-field advantages), the Super Trifecta Bowl utilizes a multi-point system of scoring:

Base Trifecta Points –

The Analysts who earn a *base* trifecta (Pick all three Correctly) earn 6 Trifecta points, while those who earn a *lame* Trifecta (Pick two of three Correctly) earn 3 points.

Super Trifecta Points –

Analysts earn “super trifecta” points from five different pick strategies for each Correct Pick:

  1. Playoff victories – There are no moral victories! An Analyst whose Home Team wins in the playoffs is awarded *bonus* Super Trifecta points based on the round: wild card = 1 point, divisional = 2 points, and conference championship = 3 points. Analysts are not required to Pick their team in the week to earn the Playoff Victory points. (In other words, two Analysts can earn a 5 to 6 points for Claiming Home Teams that progress to the world professional football league championship game.)
  2. Reverse PC-Fecta – Defense wins Championships! If an Analyst Picks his or her home team to Win, a Correct Pick for the Home Team that holds the opponent to the least points in the playoff round earns 2 *bonus* Super Trifecta point for the round. The Home Team that scores the most points in the round earns 1 Super Trifecta point. (Note: Championship round is not determined until after the professional football league championship game).
  3. Player Haters – Their fans hate us and our fans hate them! Analysts who correctly pick a playoff team that is un-Claimed by an Analyst to beat an Analyst’s Home Team earn *bonus* Super Trifecta points according to the round (leg) of the playoffs: 1 point for each correct “player hater” pick in the wildcard round, 2 points for each correct “player hater” pick in the divisional round, and 3 points for each correct “player hater” pick in the championship round.
  4. Seeder Redux –  That is why they play the game! Analysts who pick an underdog seed (away team) earn *bonus* Super Trifecta points equal to the difference between the two seeds. For instance, if a #7 seed beats a #1 seed, the Analyst earns 6 *bonus* Super Trifecta points (the maximum Seeder Redux points).
  5. Ex-Claimation! (Analysts who have NO Claim only) – Analysts who have NO Claim to a Home Team will earn 3 *bonus* Super Trifecta points for each Correct Pick of an un-Claimed playoff team during the professional football playoffs. The Ex-Claimation! *bonus* points for Analysts who have NO Claim are in addition to Player Hater and Seeder Redux *bonus* points.
  6. Prescience (TGWSNBN Only) – Analyst will predict the final score of the final game in the Championship Round (TGWSNBN). The Analyst who comes closest to predicting the Winner’s score will earn +3 Prescience *bonus* points. The Analyst who comes closest to predicting the Loser’s score also will earn +3 Prescience *bonus* points.  One Analyst can earn both Prescience *bonus* points (+6 total).

Super Trifecta points are cumulative, meaning, that an Analyst’s Home Team that wins in the divisional round (2 victory points), while also holding the opponent to least points (2 Reverse PC-Fecta points), and upsetting a higher seed (X seeder points), will earn 2 + 2 + X Super Trifecta points. Likewise, in the division round, an Analyst who has NO Claim who Correctly Picks an un-Claimed team to win against a Home Team will earn 3 Ex-Claimation points, 2 Player Hater points, and X Seeder Redux points for 3 + 2 + X *bonus* Super  Trifecta Points total.
